Violinist David Oistrach
(David Oistrach, 1908—1974) David Oistrakh is an important representative of Russian violin school. He was born in Odessa, Ukraine. At the age of 5, he began to study violin with Stoliasky, a professor at Odessa Conservatory of Music and a famous Soviet violin educator. He made his first public performance at the age of 12 and held his first solo concert at the age of 16. In 1930s, he won many prizes in competitions: first prize in the second All-Soviet Musicians Competition in 1935, second prize in the wieniawski

International Violin Competition in 1935 and first prize in the Brussels International Violin Competition in 1937. These achievements made him gain a worldwide reputation, especially in Belgium, where the Soviets won six of the seven first prizes, thus establishing the position of the Russian violin school in the world. Oistrakh's performance is full of lyrical poetry, which was strongly influenced by Chrysler in art, but he didn't completely copy it. Chrysler's pronunciation with aesthetic tendency became a means to express inner feelings in oistrakh. His trembling fingers sometimes start with artistic delay, resulting in a long-lasting sound.
